Samsung seeks copy of Apple-HTC settlement
Samsung Electronics is seeking a copy of Apple's settlement with HTC, arguing that it is relevant to Apple's request to block sales of Samsung smartphones. In a filing with a court in San Jose, Samsung said that it is "almost certain" that Apple's settlement with HTC covers some of the patents in the dispute between Apple and Samsung, Bloomberg reports. Apple claims that Samsung's patent infringement cannot be resolved with licence payments and the agreement with HTC may undermine that claim, Samsung says. Apple is seeking a permanent US sales ban on eight Samsung smartphone models and the Tab 10.1 tablets arguing that Samsung infringes on its patents.

Japanese court nixes Samsung's patent claim against Apple

The Tokyo District Court has rejected a patent infringement claim by Samsung against Apple. The court ruled that Samsung has no rights over data transmission technology that is used in some Apple iPhones, AFP reports citing a Samsung Tokyo spokesperson. Apple ordered to disclose HTC deal in Samsung case

A US judge has ordered Apple to disclose to Samsung Electronics details of its patent settlement with HTC. US Magistrate Judge Paul Grewal accepted Samsung's motion and ordered Apple to produce documents for "attorney-eyes-only", the Wall Street Journal reports. Earlier this month, Apple and HTC signed a 10-year licensing agreement that settled all of their lawsuits. Financial terms weren't disclosed, although a person familiar with the situation said HTC would be paying Apple an undisclosed licensing fee.
