Samsung Tizen Z1 smartphone goes on sale in India
Samsung has launched its first smartphone running the Tizen operating system. The earlier announced Samsung Z1 is now available in India for INR 5,700 in a choice of white, black or red. The operators Reliance Communications and Aircel are offering up to 500MB of 3G data free every month over six months for customers buying the phone. ​

Built on the lightweight Tizen platform, the Samsung Z1 promises a faster boot time and quick access to apps, along with enhanced web performance to offer users faster page loading times with decreased data usage. The Samsung Z1 is equipped with a 1,500 mAh battery and also features ‘Ultra Power Saving Mode’. 

The smartphone is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 768 MB RAM and 4GB internal memory, expandable up to 64GB with a microSD card. The device features dual SIM support, a 4-inch WVGA PLS screen, 3.1 megapixel rear camera and VGA front camera with auto face detect. It also comes with anti-virus protection, a SOS alert and a 'private mode' to protect personal data. 

Samsung will launch a free entertainment package called Joy Box with the phone, giving users access to music, TV and movies. In addition, the Samsung Z1 will offer consumers free access to premium content available on Club Samsung. Users can stream and download from over 270,000 songs and watch over 80 live TV channels. ​

For music lovers, Samsung has partnered with Hungama.com to deliver a wider selection of music streaming and downloading. Over two million Bollywood and English songs can be accessed free for three months. The mobile live TV service nexGTv and Box TV are also included for three months, allowing consumers to watch TV shows and over 7,000 Bollywood and Hollywood movies.

Redbend provides OTA updates for Samsung's Tizen 

Redbend announced it is providing its over-the-air (OTA) updating services to Samsung Z1 powered by Tizen, an open source multi-platform. Redbend's Smart Delta technology delivers new features as well as application and operating system updates over the air to mobile phones and connected devices globally. The company's technology optimises update packages and reduces device memory and bandwidth requirements. The competitively priced Samsung Z1 is powered by Tizen, launched earlier this year in India.

Samsung to soon launch Tizen Z1 smartphone in Bangladesh

Samsung plans to soon launch its Tizen OS-based smartphone dubbed 'Z1' in Bangladesh, The Economic Times reports, citing Samsung India marketing VP Asim Warsi. Samsung first introduced its Z1 device in India on 14 January. "The [Z1] phone will soon be launched in Bangladesh," Warsi said.

Samsung to manufacture Tizen Z1 smartphone in India

Samsung plans to produce its 'Z1' Tizen OS-based smartphone in India, at its Noida plant soon, The Economic Times reports, citing Samsung India marketing VP Asim Warsi. Samsung introduced its Z1 device in India in mid-January. "The compelling proposition of an easy to use and clutter free interface (of Z1), along with premium design has met wide consumer acceptance... The Z1 will be manufactured in company's Noida plant in UP," said Warsi. "The phone will soon be launched in Bangladesh," Warsi said.

Samsung has presented its first smartphone running Tizen at a meeting in India. The Z1 is expected to launch in India 18 January for a price equivalent to around EUR 75. The phone features a 4-inch screen, 1.2 GHz processor and 3 megapixel rear camera with flash. Samsung delays Tizen smartphone launch again

Samsung has again postponed the launch of its first smartphone running the Tizen operating system, reported Korea's Chosun Ilbo. The phone was to be launched this week in India. Earlier the reported launch with Japanese operator NTT DoCoMo and in Russia were also canceled at the last minute. Samsung postpones Tizen smartphone launch

Samsung has delayed the launch of its first Tizen smartphone, originally scheduled to go on sale in Russia in Q3. In a brief statement, Samsung said that it was postponing the launch of the Samsung Z, the Wall Street Journal reports. The company cited a need to "further enhance [the] Tizen ecosystem," a reference to an apparent shortage of apps for the new platform.
