Samsung updates Android software on Galaxy devices
Samsung Electronics announced its Galaxy S II smartphone will be upgraded to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The upgrade will begin on 13 March in Europe with countries including Poland, Hungary and Sweden, as well as Korea, and gradually roll out to other markets. The Android 4.0 ICS software upgrade will follow soon for other devices, including the Galaxy Note, Galaxy SII LTE, Galaxy R and Galaxy Tab 7.0 Plus, 7.7, 8.9 and 10.1. Samsung completed upgrading the Galaxy devices to Android 2.3 Gingerbread last year and will offer additional 2.3 firmware upgrades for the Galaxy S, Galaxy Tab 7", Galaxy S Plus, Galaxy S SCL and Galaxy W from end-March. The availability and scheduling of the software upgrade and specific models upgradable to Android 4.0 will vary by market and mobile carriers' requirements.

HTC starts Android 4.0 roll-out

HTC confirmed it will start upgrading a number of its smartphones to Android 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich). The company has started the roll-out for the Sensation and Sensation XE, and more phones will get the upgrade in the coming weeks, in coordination with local carriers. These include the Droid Incredible 2, Amaze 4G, Desire S, Desire HD, EVO 3D, EVO Design 4G, Incredible S, Sensation XL, Sensation 4G, Raider, Rezound, Rhyme, Thunderbolt and Vivid.

ICS-update voor Samsung Galaxy SII

De Samsung Galaxy SII krijgt een update naar de laatste versie van Android, Ice Cream Sandwich (v4.0). Samsung begint de uitrol van de update in Polen, Hongarije, Zweden en Zuid-Korea. Wanneer de update ook in Nederland beschikbaar zal zijn, is niet bekend. De updates worden over-the-air uitgevoerd. Naast de Galaxy SII krijgen ook de Galaxy Note, S II LTE en de Galaxy Tab 8.9 en 10.1 een update naar de laatste versie van Android. Samsung laat wel weten dat de update per land en provider kan verschillen.
