
Smart Axiata launched 4G services in Cambodia in 2014, 4G+ services in 2016, and VoLTE and 4.5G services in 2017. The operator reports it invests around USD 70-80 million per year, mainly in its network infrastructure expansion, as well as mobile broadband connectivity upgrade across the country.
Cambodia recently selected Huawei for its 5G mobile infrastructure rollout. According to telecoms regulator TRC, Cambodia signed on with Huawei but is also open to other 5G suppliers. The deal with Huawei was signed on 28 April in Beijing by Huawei and Cambodia's Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications.
