Snap quarterly sales up 72% after strong net user adds in Q4

Snap saw its net loss more than double in the fourth quarter, to USD 350 million from USD 170 million a year ago. The company's revenues jumped 72 percent to USD 286 million, while the EBITDA loss was little changed at USD 159 million. 

The Snapchat developer said its daily active users increased by 8.9 million or 5 percent compared to Q3 to 187 million, representing the highest net adds since Q3 2016. DAUs increased 18 percent year-over-year. Average revenue per user was USD 1.53 in Q4, up 46 percent year-over-year and 31 percent higher sequentially, while the cost of revenue per user was USD 1.02, up only 5 percent year-over-year and down 14 percent versus Q3. 

Snap ended the year with USD 2.0 billion in cash. The company said it reduced cash burn to USD 255 million in Q4, down 49 percent from the previous quarter.
