
Japanese operator Softbank reported net profit for the fiscal year to March 2017 up 164.1 percent to JPY 1.47 trillion. Net sales slightly increased by 0.2 percent year-on-year to JPY 8.88 trillion, while operating income climbed 12.9 percent to JPY 908.9 billion.
In Japan, net sales amounted to JPY 3.19 trillion, which represents an increase of 1.6 percent year-on-year. Sprint’s net sales amounted to JPY 3.62 trillion, down by 6.4 percent in the period, and Yahoo Japan’s net sales reached JPY 853.4 billion, an increase of 30.9 percent year-on-year. Softbank had 32.4 million mobile subscribers in Japan at 31 March 2017, following 362,000 net additions in the year.
The number of subscribers for mobile communications services stood at 6 million, following a 3 million increase from the year-earlier period. Broadband service subscribers reached 2.9 million at the end of March, following net adds of 1.4 million subscribers in the period. Subscribers to SoftBank’s Hikari fibre service increased by 1.8 million to 3.5 million at the end of March, while subscribers for Yahoo! BB hikari with FLET’S decreased by 623,000 to 1.3 million at 31 March 2017, and subscribers for Yahoo! BB ADSL decreased by 186,000 to 1.16 million at end-March 2017.
