Sony has promoted its CFO Kenichiro Yoshida to become CEO from 01 April. The current CEO Kazuo Hirai said it was time to move on to a "new chapter" in his life, after completing the company's latest three-year plan ahead of targets.
Hirai will remain on as chairman of Sony, while chief strategy officer and head of Sony Mobile Hiroki Totoki becomes the new CFO. Shigeki Ishizuka, who already leads the camera business, will take over responsibility for mobile phones as well.
Yoshida has been with Sony since 1987. He became CFO in 2014, after previously serving as chief strategy officer and head of Sony's internet business So-net.
