Sony Mobile launches 'Concept for Android' initiative
Sony Mobile has announced the launch of a new initiative called "Concept for Android", giving owners of the Xperia Z3 smartphone in Sweden the opportunity to try out a concept operating system based on Android 5.1. Sony said the OS has significant differences compared to its current commercial releases, with what it describes as "a stripped back, vanilla Android look and feel, with native Sony features and apps we find most popular amongst our users". A total of 500 Xperia Z3 owners are invited to apply for software trial from 27 July to 13 September via the Xperia Lounge app.

Sony introduces live broadcast app for gamers

Sony announced a new app for gamers to stream their live play to the social network Twitch. The new app brings integrated in-device broadcasting to Android smartphones. It works initially with the Xperia Z3+, Z4, Z4v and Z4 tablet, allowing users to live broadcast their gaming to Twitch. The app, available on the Google Play store in select regions, also works with live streaming to YouTube.

TeliaSonera's Norwegian arm NetCom said the newcomers Sony Z3 Plus and Sony Xperia E4G have entered its list of the top ten phones for June, but Apple and Samsung are holding on to their leading positions. Lithuanian mobile operator Omnitel has started selling the Sony Xperia Z4 tablet.
