
Postpaid net additions of 553,000 compared to net losses of 272,000 in the second quarter of 2014, including 190,000 prepaid customers who migrated to postpaid. Churn for postpaid customers stood at 1.54 percent in the second quarter, and for prepaid at 5.07 percent. Sprint had 57.87 million total customers at the end of September, including 30.57 million postpaid, 14.98 million prepaid and 12.32 million wholesale and affiliate.
The operator reported USD 8 billion of net operating revenue, down 6 percent on the year-earlier period. The decline was driven by customers’ shift to rate plans with device financing options and postpaid customer losses from prior periods. Adjusted EBITDA grew by 45 percent in a year to USD 2 billion in the quarter, as cost cuts more than offset the falling service revenue. Sprint improved its bottom line to a UDS 585 million net loss, compared to a USD 765 million net loss in its second fiscal quarter of 2014.
The operator said it now expects its Adjusted EBITDA for fiscal year 2015 to be at the low end of its previous expectation of USD 7.2 billion to USD 7.6 billion. It continues to expect its cash expenditure to be approximately USD 5 billion, excluding the impact of leased devices sold through indirect channels.
