Sunrise launches 5G fixed-wireless offer for home, office customers

Swiss operator Sunrise has opened up its 5G network to home and office customers. Customers can opt for 5G for their fixed broadband service and also use the mobile network as a replacement for fixed telephony and TV services. Sunrise will offer 5G automatically in areas where the fixed network is slow.

The Sunrise Home Internet tariffs are available with 5G at no extra cost. The tariffs are available at a promotional price of CHF 40 per month, instead of the usual CHF 40 for 50 Mbps, CHF 70 for 200 Mbps and CHF 90 per month for 1 Gbps. Customers with a mobile subscription benefit from the Sunrise advantage, with another 10 percent discount on the basic monthly subscription fee.

The Sunrise Office kick-start offer is also also available with 5G and can be used with the company's Work Smart solutions and Business Cloud PBX telephony offers.

Fixed telephony is included at no extra cost with the broadband offers. The company recommends its TV neo max OTT service with the 5G broadband service, which costs CHF 55 per month in a bundle with Sunrise Home Internet 5G on a minimum 12-month contract. TV neo comes with over 230 channels and can be streamed to an app for phones, tablets and Apple TV.

The 5G router is provided on loan at no extra cost and can be activated immediately by scanning a code on the box with a smartphone.

The launch is part of the Swiss operator's '5G for People' campaign. Sunrise already claims the largest 5G network in Switzerland, covering at least 80 percent of the population in over 262 towns and cities, including major cities such as Zurich. The operator continues to expand coverage, including in the 3.5 GHz band, which offers speeds up to 2 Gbps and a good replacement for landline connections, the company said.
