T-Mobile Poland signs wholesale FTTH agreement with Orange

Orange Poland has signed a wholesale FTTH agreement with T-Mobile Poland, based on which Orange will provide wholesale access to its FTTH network for T-Mobile Poland. The agreement applies for multi-dwelling units in non-regulated areas, covering 1.7 million households expected to have fibre access by year-end.

Orange and T-Mobile already cooperate on mobile network sharing, and the companies have been in talks for several months on extending this to the fibre network. The deal will allow T-Mobile to develop a presence on the fixed market. 

According to the CEO of Orange Poland, Jean-Francois Fallacher, the company is prepared for similar contracts with other operators. The agreement is not exclusive, so Orange is open to negotiate with other operators on wholesale access to its network.

Based on the agreement, T-Mobile will pay Orange an initial fee for access to the network of PLN 275 million. In addition, it will pay a monthly fee per client, depending on the speed and the year in which the particular household was covered by the fibre network. 

The agreement has been signed for ten years and shall be automatically extended another five years, provided that T-Mobile reaches a defined number of clients connected to the network of Orange.

The agreement with T-Mobile allows Orange to monetise its fibre network investments faster. The operator will also maximise the network usage and prevent overlapping construction of fibre networks by other operators. 

By the end of 2020, Orange Poland plans to have covered 5 million households.

T-Mobile Poland Q2 revenues drop 2.6 percent, adds 100,000 subscribers

T-Mobile Poland recorded revenues of EUR 368 million for the second quarter, down 2.6 percent from a year earlier, and EBITDA decreased by 19.2 percent to EUR 101 million. The EBITDA margin dropped by 5.7 percentage points to 27.4 percent. The operator added 100,000 subscribers in the three months, for a total 10.61 million at the end of June. The customer satisfaction is reflected in positive number portability results and the lowest churn rate since 2012, the company said.

T-Mobile Poland, Orange Poland to sign agreement on FTTH wholesale access soon

Following recent information on the extension of negotiations, the management Board of Orange Poland has announced that the negotiations with T-Mobile Poland on access to Orange Poland's fibre network are still ongoing and that the signing of the contract is planned for 23 July. The transaction is still subject to a favourable opinion from the supervisory board of Orange Poland.

Orange Poland, T-Mobile Poland continue talks on fibre wholesale access

Orange Poland has extended negotiations with T-Mobile Poland regarding access to Orange Poland's fibre-optic network. Orange first talked about the plan to provide wholesale access to its fibre network to T-Mobile on 20 December 2017. The negotiations will continue after 30 June, the date originally scheduled for completion of the talks. More information will be disclosed at a later date.
