TA CEO says Slim investment will support expansion
Telekom Austria Group CEO Hannes Ametsreiter expects the investment by Carlos Slim-owned America Movil in the company to strengthen its capital and allow it to expand when acquisition opportunities emerge in Eastern Europe, APA reports. In an interview with the latest edition of Austrian business magazine 'Trend', Ametsreiter said that the entire European telecoms industry was undergoing a period of consolidation, and that being a larger player with a cash-rich partner was a strong advantage. Ametsreiter said that the group was keen to expand in markets where it already has a presence by buying fibre-optic and cable network operators, as well as expanding into new geographical markets.

Telekom Austria lowers FY guidance

Telekom Austria Group reported revenues of EUR 1.063 billion for the second quarter, down 4.2 percent year-on-year. This includes a negative effect from hyperinflation accounting and foreign exchange of EUR 55.3 million, mainly resulting from the Belarus operations. Investigators seize Telekom Austria affiliate's documents

The premises of Telekom Austria's 25 percent affiliate Marx Media Vienna have been searched, newspaper Der Standard.at reports, citing another Austrian newspaper, the Kurier. TKK approves Slim investment in A1 Telekom Austria

The Austrian telecommunications control commission TKK has approved the investment by Carlos Slim's company in A1 Telekom Austria. The TKK is required under the Telecoms Act to approve any changes to the shareholders of companies issued with mobile phone frequencies. The TKK decided that the acquisition would not change frequency usage rights and would not have a negative impact on competition.
