Tele2 Sweden said the volume of mobile internet traffic used abroad had expanded fivefold in June compared with the same month last year. New European roam-like-at-home (RLAH) regulations entered force on 15 June this year. Spain remains the favourite web roaming country, accounting for 25 percent of EU/EAA mobile data used, Tele2 said.
Greece was the second most popular destination, accounting for 13 percent of mobile data used in Europe, followed by Italy at 8 percent, Denmark fourth at 7 percent, Norway fifth at 6.5 percent and Germany sixth at 6 percent.
France and Croatia each accounted for 5 percent, and the UK and Poland generated 4 percent each. The operator said the rise in mobile internet use goes to show that customers were restricting their surfing before.
