Telefonica Brasil CEO Navarro named global comms director

Telefonica has announced the appointment of Eduardo Navarro, current chairman and CEO of its Brazilian unit, as its new Global Director for Communications, Brand, Public Affairs and Sustainability. The new unit will oversee communication, institutional marketing, global brand policy, sponsorship, as well as the global strategy for public affairs and corporate ethics and sustainability, integrating and managing all of the group's intangible assets, said Telefonica.

Telefonica's current Director of Corporate Communications and Institutional Marketing, Jose Luis Gomez-Navarro will report directly to the group’s chairman and CEO Jose Maria Alvarez-Pallete.

The company added that Navarro will continue as chairman of Telefonica Brasil’s board of directors and will continue to support Vivo in institutional and regulatory matters. The current COO of Vivo, Christian Gebara, will take over as chairman and CEO of Telefonica Brasil on 01 January 2019, as well as take up the vacant seat on the Brazilian board of directors.
