Telefonica Deutschland announced a number of changes to its board. Markus Rolle, currently director of controlling at the German operator, will succeed Rachel Empey as CFO. Empey is leaving at her own request as mutually agreed with the supervisory board, after more than 13 years in leadership positions in the Telefonica Group.
In addition, the company announced that several internal committees have been eliminated and their responsibilities divided amongst new members of the management board. This should simplify the company's leadership structure in order to push ahead quickly and efficiently with digital transformation, Telefonica said. The changes to the management board will take effect from 1 August.
In addition to Roller, new board members include Wolfgang Metze, who joined the company in early 2017 from Deutsche Telekom and will serve as board member responsible for the consumer business. The former E-Plus executive Alfons Loesing will be responsible for wholesale partners, business customers and Telefonica Next on the board, and Cayetano Carbajo Martin will be responsible for the network.
Guido Eidmann will serve as the Chief Information Officer with responsibility for the service technology unit and will ensure the digitalisation of the company. He joined E-Plus in 2013 and after the merger managed the integration and transformation of all IT departments.
Valentina Daiber (49) will have responsibility for legal and corporate affairs on the board, and Nicole Gerhardt has been appointed board member responsible for human resources, after joining Telefonica from ProSiebenSat.1 Media SE. She succeeds Thomas Gottschlich, who is leaving the company for personal reasons.
