Telekom Austria in talks to hike Telekom Srbija bid - report

Telekom Austria is understood to have held talks with the Serbian government about raising its bid for the state's 51 percent stake in Telekom Srbija, reports APA. According to a report in Serbian daily newspaper Blic, the government and Telekom Austria have held talks through privatisation advisor Citigoup. The report cited unnamed sources close to the Austrian operator, although the Serbian government denied the report. Telekom Austria has already made a EUR 800-950 million bid, well below the asking price of EUR 1.4 billion. The newspaper reported that it was prepared to increase its offer up to EUR 1.1-1.2 billion. The Serbian government is expected to announce on 28 March whether it will accept the Telekom Austria offer.
