Telenor appoints Pakistan CEO Khan as head of Asia cluster

Telenor Group has announced that, effective 1 April, Irfan Khan, CEO of Telenor Pakistan, will assume an additional leadership role as Telenor Group executive vice president and cluster head for Emerging Asia. In his new role, Khan will join Telenor Group's executive management team and will report directly to Telenor CEO Sigve Brekke. Khan replaces Petter-Borre Furberg, who will become CEO of Telenor Norway and step out of Telenor Group's Executive Management.

Khan was appointed CEO of Telenor Pakistan on 1 August 2016 and will continue to hold that role as well. He had served in the position of deputy CEO and chief marketing officer (CMO) of Telenor Pakistan since April 2013. He also served in various positions within Telenor Group both in Asia and Europe, including VP, devices and VP - Head of Asia Distribution. Khan is also a board member of Telenor Microfinance Bank.

Telenor merges classified ads ops 701Search with Singapore-based start-up Carousell

Telenor Group said it will merge its online classified advertisement business, 701Search, with Carousell in an equity and cash agreement. 701Search owns leading general classifieds sites Mudah in Malaysia, Chotot in Vietnam and OneKyat in Myanmar. Carousell operates in eight countries and is backed by Telenor, Rakuten Ventures, Sequoia Capital, Naspers, 500 Startups, Golden Gate Ventures, DBS and EDBI.

Telenor Norway names Brown to head mobile arm as Furberg replaces Moen as CEO

Telenor Norway has announced the appointment of Ric Brown as head of its mobile division, replacing Bjorn Ivar Moen, who has been acting CEO of Telenor Norge for the past seven months. Brown takes up the post from a position as brand development officer. Moen is leaving the Norwegian arm of Telenor after almost 20 years there and was replaced as CEO there by Petter-Borre Furberg on 01 April.

Telenor shakes up executive team, with new CEOs for Norway and Sweden

Telenor Norway has shaken up its executive board, announcing a new CEO to succeed Berit Svendsen, who will be stepping down after seven years. Svendsen will be followed by Petter Furberg. In her position as head of the Scandinavia Cluster, she will be succeeded by Morten Karlsen Sorby. Bjorn Ivar Moen, currently the head of Telenor Norway's Mobile division, will be acting CEO of Telenor Norway with immediate effect until Furberg starts.
