TeliaSonera, Telenor, Mobile Norway win 2 GHz airwaves
Norwegian postal and telecoms regulator PT said the auction of spectrum in the 2 GHz band (1920-1980 and 2110-2170 Mhz) ended after one round and all nine blocks were sold at the minimum price of NKK 5 million per block. TeliaSonera and Telenor won four blocks each and Mobile Norway won one block, giving the three players the same amount of spectrum in this band (approximately 2 x 20 Mhz). There were five registered bidders at the auction. Two withdrew from the auction, the second 24 minutes before the first round was about to start and after the auction process was underway. There was a four-block frequency cap, so the auction stopped after one round. The frequencies are chiefly used for mobile telephony and mobile broadband. Mobile Norway is a 50-50 joint venture by Network Norway and Tele2.
