Tigo to sell and lease back towers to ATC in Paraguay

Tigo Paraguay (Millicom) has announced an agreement to sell around 1,400 mobile communications towers to a subsidiary of American Tower Corporation (ATC) in the country for a total of PYG 700 billion (around USD 125 million) in cash. In addition, Tigo Paraguay and ATC have entered into a long term local currency leasing agreement whereby ATC will provide Tigo Paraguay with mobile communications towers to support the operator’s mobile networks and rollout plans.

Tigo said the deal would create savings in both capital and operating expenditures and that the specific number of towers and final purchase price will be determined once the various closings have taken place.

Tigo Colombia (Millicom) has announced an agreement to sell around 1,200 mobile communications towers to a subsidiary of American Tower Corporation (ATC) in the country for a total of COP 448 billion (around USD 147 million) in cash. Paraguay LTE penetration doubled to 13% in 2016

Paraguay's LTE penetration rate reached a total of 13.3 percent at the end of 2016, well over double the 5.6 percent recorded a year earlier, according to a report by industry association 5G Americas. Tigo Paraguay to expand 4G service to 127 districts
