Verizon, Google sign long-term patent licence deal
US operator Verizon Communications announced a long-term patent cross-license agreement with Google, covering a broad range of products and technologies. The agreement allows each company to reduce the risk of future patent litigation. Both companies said in a statement that they are interested in signing similar deals with other companies. No further details of the agreement were released.

Verizon launches Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack mobile hotspot

Verizon Wireless has introduced the new Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack (MHS800L), a compact mobile hotspot that allows users to connect up to eight Wi-Fi enabled devices via the Verizon LTE network. The device is also optimised for Verizon's XLTE network. The Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack is available online for USD 0.99 with a new two-year activation. The Verizon Ellipsis Jetpack mobile hotspot features a 0.9-inch OLED display, 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi, VPN capability and a 2,100mAh battery providing up to ten hours of use.

Google, Rockstar end Nortel patent litigation

Google and patent consortium Rockstar have agreed to settle their patent litigation, according to a Texas court filing. The specific terms of the deal were not disclosed in the filing, which did reveal that the agreement was struck on 12 November and that all matters of dispute between the parties have been settled.
