Verizon starts USD 25 billion bond offering

Verizon Communications has started a USD 25 billion bond offering aimed at helping it pay for the spectrum it bought during the latest C-band auction, MarketWatch reported, adding that demand has been big. The company has already paid USD 8.2 billion to the US Treasury and needs to give USD 36 billion this month, Bloomberg noted.

The company recently outlined its plans regarding 5G coverage, saying it has committed an extra USD 10 billion in capex over the next three years to support deployment, on top of its planned USD 17.5-18.5 billion.

Verizon has raised its full-year outlook after reporting a return to growth at its consumer mobile business in Q2. Verizon Media sold for USD 5 billion to Apollo, to rebrand as Yahoo

Verizon has sold its Verizon Media division for USD 5 billion to private equity firm Apollo Global Management. Under the deal, Verizon will receive USD 4.25 billion in cash and USD 750 million worth of preferred interests. It will also retain a 10 percent stake in the operations, which include Yahoo and AOL. At close, the business will be led by Verizon Media CEO Guru Gowrappan and called Yahoo.

Verizon grows Q1 net profit 25% on business recovery, broadband demand

Verizon reported net profit for the first quarter up 25.4 percent to USD 5.4 billion. The increase was driven by its cost savings programme and a recovery in the B2B market following restructuring there. Revenues rose 4.0 percent to USD 32.9 billion, as growth in broadband and business services as well as higher equipment sales helped offset a drop in the number of mobile customers.

Verizon has started installing C-band equipment from Ericsson and Samsung. The company said the move is expected to speed up the deployment of its 5G Ultra Wideband and fixed wireless broadband services on its recently acquired C-band spectrum.

Verizon to buy LTE operations of Triangle Mobile

Verizon has agreed to acquire the LTE in Rural America (LRA) assets from Triangle Mobile, a services provider based in Montana. The deal is expected to close by mid-year. The transaction will not affect Triangle Telephone Cooperative landline or internet services. The company's 3,000 mobile customers will be informed about the move by letter.

AT&T has provided a comprehensive vision for its operations going forward, saying it will focus on deploying 5G and fibre, and expanding its HBO Max streaming service. CEO John Stankey said the company also wants to keep its dividend at current levels, using remaining cash to reduce debt. The company noted there will be enough to pay for its financial commitments this year. These will include USD 23 billion for C-band spectrum, a dividend to shareholders of nearly USD 15 billion, gross capex of about USD 21

Verizon outlines 5G expansion plans to boost revenue growth

Verizon has outlined its plans to expand 5G coverage using the spectrum it acquired in the recent C-band auction. At an analysts meeting, the company said the improved services will help it accelerate services revenue growth, to at least 2 percent this year, 3 percent in 2022 and 2023 and 4 percent or more in 2024. It's committed an extra USD 10 billion in capex over the next three years to support the roll-out, on top of the projected spending this year of USD 17.5-18.5 billion.

Verizon brings more 5G Ultra Wideband to more cities

Verizon said customers in parts of Sacramento, Seattle and Pensacola have access to 5G Ultra Wideband speeds and functionalities on top of its 5G Nationwide service. Customers in parts of Sacramento will also have access to the newest 5G Home equipment. Verizon first launched 5G Home Internet in 2018.

Verizon tops bids in C-band auction with USD 45.5 billion outlay

The FCC has announced the winning bidders in the recent C-Band auction. Verizon accounted for over half the total bids, acquiring 3,511 licences for a total USD 45.45 billion. AT&T came second with 1,621 licences for USD 23.41 billion, and T-Mobile US spent USD 9.34 billion on 142 licences. US Cellular was the fourth-highest bidder, with a total USD 1.28 billion for 254 licences.
