Vivendi CEO named Telecom Italia vice chairman - report

Telecom Italia has appointed Vivendi CEO Arnaud de Puyfontaine as its vice chairman, according to sources cited by Reuters. The French company currently owns 24.9 percent of Telecom Italia and has four of its own representatives on the operator’s board. One of the sources said De Puyfontaine's appointment may lead to the French executive eventually replacing Giuseppe Recchi as Telecom Italia's chairman, a suggestion that was subsequently denied by Vivendi.

Telecom Italia has yet to confirm De Puyfontaine's appointment but said the 05 May board meeting to approve its first quarter results will now take place on 13 May while its 02 August meeting will take place on 04 August.
