Vivendi increased its hostile takeover bid for Gameloft by 11 percent to EUR 8.00 from EUR 7.20 a share. The news comes a week before the offer closes on 27 May.
The offer was raised automatically under French rules after Vivendi bought a small number of shares at the higher price on 19 May. The company said it purchased 148,743 shares, representing 0.171 percent of Gameloft capital, at EUR 8.00. This is twice as much as the shares were worth the day before Vivendi launched its bid in October 2015. The company said it now owns 29.4 percent of Gameloft shares and 26.5 percent of votes.
