Yahoo! fined USD 2.7 bln in Mexico
Yahoo! reports that the 49th Civil Court of the Federal District of Mexico City has entered a non-final judgment of USD 2.7 billion against Yahoo! and Yahoo de Mexico in a lawsuit brought by plaintiffs Worldwide Directories and Ideas Interactivas. Yahoo! believes the plaintiffs' claims are "without merit" and plans to pursue all appeals. The plaintiffs alleged claims of breach of contract, breach of promise, and lost profits arising from contracts related to a yellow pages listings service.

The Superior Court of Justice for the Federal District in Mexico has granted Yahoo!'s appeal and reversed the ruling of the 49th Civil Court of Mexico. Back in November 2012, the Civil Court ordered Yahoo! and Yahoo! Mexico to pay USD 2.75 billion for Mexican Yellow Pages breach of contract.

Mexican watchdog sues Telmex over illegal charges

Mexico's consumer protection agency Profeco has filed a lawsuit against fixed-line operator Telmex for making illegal charges. According to Rafael Ochoa, a legal expert at the federal prosecutor's office for the consumer (Profeco), Telmex had made unwarranted charges for a privacy service and Profeco had filed the suit with a federal civil court in Mexico City, Reuters reports.

Yahoo! reported fourth-quarter revenue up 2 percent year-over-year to USD 1.3 billion. Revenue excluding traffic acquisition costs increased 4 percent to USD 1.2 billion, and adjusted EBITDA rose 8 percent to USD 509 million.
