TeliaSonera’s subsidiary Yoigo will launch 4G services in Spain in July. The 4G service will initially be available in Madrid, and will be extended to the largest cities in Spain by the end of this year. Yoigo will thus be the first operator to offer commercial 4G services on the Spanish market.
Yoigo will provide 4G services using the 1800 MHz band. Subscribers will be able to access internet speeds of over 100 Mbps. By the end of the year, 37 percent of the Spanish population will be able to use Yoigo’s 4G network. The operator plans to further expand the service to 75 percent of Spain’s population by end-2014.
