Telenet, Orange swap value-destroying network duplication for wholesale cooperation

Telenet and Orange Belgium have agreed to use each other's fixed networks. This includes any eventual fibre coverage the cable operators decide to deploy, like Telenet's pending joint venture with Fluvius, and the Voo network which Orange is in the process of acquiring. Telenet, Orange Belgium sign 15-year wholesale agreement for fixed network access

Orange Belgium and rival Telenet have signed a 15-year wholesale agreement giving each other access to their respective fixed networks. The deal is expected to support Orange's planned takeover of Voo, the cable operator in the south of Belgium.

Orange Belgium revenues come under pressure as Voo takeover delayed

Orange needs its planned takeover of Voo in Belgium to go through, as the operator's revenue growth there is slowing down, research by Telecompaper shows. Since the takeover was first agreed at the end of 2021, Orange's revenues have fallen, while Voo shows marginal growth. While they wait for regulatory clearance to complete the deal, Orange risks losing its growth momentum of recent years.

Om de continuïteit te waarborgen is de geplande overname van Voo voor Orange Belgium van groot belang, aangezien de omzetgroei van de operator vertraagt. Dat blijkt uit onderzoek van Telecompaper. Sinds de overname eind 2021 werd overeengekomen, zijn de inkomsten van Orange gedaald, terwijl Voo een marginale groei laat zien. Terwijl het wachten is op goedkeuring van de toezichthouder om de deal af te ronden, dreigt Orange zijn groeimomentum van de afgelopen jaren te verliezen.
