Investors interested in buying Tele Columbus - report

German cable network operator Tele Columbus has found several investors to acquire the company, according to sources close to the negotiations cited by German press agency dpa. The operator is the hands of more than 100 international creditors that acquired the company by dropping several hundreds of millions euros in debt during 2010. Tele Columbus upgrades cable network in Freitals

German cable network operator Tele Columbus has activated its upgraded cable network in Freitals. The network is now equipped with Docsis 3.0 technology enabling households in the municipality to order broadband with maximum download speeds up to 100 Mbps, HDTV and fixed telephony services. The network is currently upgraded for 11,000 households and another 5,000 households will be upgraded before the end of this year. Tele Columbus will invest around EUR 3 million in the total upgrade.

Tele Columbus acquires stake in sales agency

German cable network operator Tele Columbus has acquired a stake in Dresden-based sales agency AproStyle to increase its sales engagement. The acquisition enables Tele Columbus to intensify its cooperation with sales and market services provider to continue growth in Eastern Germany. The goal of the acquisition is to expand sales activities with regards to Tele Columbus' own TV, broadband and telephony services. No financial details were disclosed.

Versatel revenues drop 1.4%, net loss grows to EUR 122 mln

German fixed network operator Versatel reported revenues of EUR 725 million in 2010, 1 percent less than in 2009 and above Versatel's forecast of EUR 710 million. The adjusted EBITDA decreased by 8 percent to EUR 171 million in 2010, and the free cash flow dropped from EUR 46 million in 2009 to EUR 40.5 million in 2010. Liberty Global close to deal to acquire Kabel BW - report

Liberty Global is close to a deal to acquire German regional cable network operator Kabel Baden-Wuerttemberg (Kabel BW) for between EUR 3.1 billion and EUR 3.2 billion, reports the Wall Street Journal citing unnamed sources familiar with the matter. The sources indicate that Liberty Global has beaten two other final bidders, private equity companies Hellman & Friedman and CVC Capital Partners, although a formal agreement is still to be signed.

Primacom launches CI+ Module for HDTV services

German cable network operator Primacom has launched a new CI+ module for a one-off fee of EUR 79. The module allows users to receive HD TV and can be ordered with a contract and allows users to receive around 200 TV and radio programmes from Primacom, including private HD channels, direct on their TVs without the need for an additional HD receiver.

Primacom offers WLAN modem for broadband customers

German cable network operator Primacom has announced a new WLAN internet access option for all customers. The new WLAN modem can support maximum Primacom broadband speeds of up to 120 Mbps over a WLAN, giving customers wireless internet access from anywhere in their home. It can be ordered with a new broadband contract or added to an existing contract for a one-off fee of EUR 29.90.

Kabel BW adds 139,000 broadband, phone subscribers in 2010

German cable operator Kabel BW has reported strong revenue and profit growth for 2010, with revenue up 14.2 percent or EUR 70 million to EUR 563 million, EBITDA up 21.4 percent or EUR 56 million to EUR 316 million, and EBT up 90 percent or EUR 44 million to EUR 93 million. The total number of internet and telephony subscribers grew by 26.5 percent or 139,000 in 2010 to reach 664,000. KDG launches network for Chemnitz housing company

German cable network operator Kabel Deutschland (KDG) has commissioned a new fibre-optic broadband network for around 6,300 households of the Einheit housing association in Chemnitz. The network is being used to deliver broadband, TV and telephony services to residents. KDG and the Einheit housing group signed a contract in March 2010 for the provision of multimedia services.

Tele Columbus to offer triple-play Sky TV package from March

German cable network operator Tele Columbus plans to launch a new triple-play package with Sky TV from March, onlinekosten.de reports. Primacom launches new Kabel.trio triple-play bundle

German cable network operator Primacom has launched a new services bundle called 'Kabel.trio', combining cable TV, high-speed internet and phone line. The package includes nine HD channels without extra charge. Customers signing up by 31 March will pay EUR 19.99 per month for the first six months, instead of the standard price of EUR 49.99 per month. German cable network operator Kabel Deutschland (KDG) has reported revenue of EUR 405.3 million for its third quarter ending 31 December 2010, up 7 percent from EUR 378.8 million a year earlier. Swedish private equity group EQT has received at least five bids for German regional cable network operator Kabel Baden-Wuerttemberg (Kabel BW), reports Reuters citing two unnamed sources close to the sale process. Tele Columbus delivers TV services to Dessauer homes

Dessauer Daten- und Telekommunikations (Datel) and German cable network operator Tele Columbus commissioned a new cable headend on 17 February. The receiving station is located in a Datel building and allows over 100 digital and analogue TV and radio programmes to be transmitted on the cable network, serving around 1,800 homes owned by the Dessauer and Rosslauer housing groups.
