GSM/GPS Location Based Service launched in Europe
KPN is the first operator in Europe to introduce, together with partner SF-Alert, a mobile phone for children that allow parents to track and trace the GPS phone. The i-kids phone is SF Alert's first SK Telecom GPS/GMS –based solution to hit the market. The company plans to launch other GPS/GMS services in the very near future, and is also pushing to launch the i-kids solution in other countries. Whether EUR 15.00 per month is a price parents in the Netherlands are willing to pay remains a question for now. However, we see an increasing interest in selling mobile services and phones to kids, although initial sales are expected to be low.
