WE Broadband: average price per Mbps falls further in Q2 2012
The average price per Mbps for fixed broadband service in 15 Western European countries continues to drop and reached EUR 0.91 per Mbps in Q2 2012. Triple-play packages still offer the best price/speed deal, with a 23 percent higher speed at only a 16 percent higher price compared to the market average. In terms of access technology, consumers were still best off with FTTx connections, which offered an average price per Mbps of EUR 0.49 compared to EUR 1.98 per Mbps for ADSL. Sweden still offered the highest average speed (131.57 Mbps) as well as the lowest average price per Mbps, while Norway, Switzerland, Ireland and Denmark had the least value for money in terms of average price per Mbps.
