A1 CEO submits resignation

Margarete Schrambock, CEO of the Austrian operator A1, has resigned. She had been in the position since May 2016. Until a successor is appointed, CTO Marcus Grausam will take over her duties as interim CEO. 

Schrambock's possible resignation was the subject of earlier press reports, which suggested a conflict with the Telekom Austria Group CEO. A1 did not provide a reason for Schrambock's departure.

A1 supervisory board confirms Grausam as CEO

Marcus Grausam has been confirmed as the CEO of Austrian operator A1. Members of the company's supervisory board voted unanimously in favour of Grausam's appointment. Grausam has served as the interim CEO of A1 since the departure of Margaret Schrambock last October. He will continue to serve as the company's CTO in addition to carrying out his new responsibilities as CEO. Grausam has been a board member of A1 Telekom Austria and the company's CTO since October 2012.

Mtel rebrands as A1 Bulgaria

The Bulgarian subsidiary of A1 Telekom Austria Group, Mtel (Mobiltel) announced on its website it completed its re-branding as A1 Bulgaria. The new name reflects a change in its business operations, after expanding into the fixed market in recent years to offer home internet, cable TV and cloud services. The operator's previous name was Mobiltel and it operated under the Mtel brand. All the operator's services are sold under the new brand name and its website was also changed from mtel.bg to A1.bg.

Telekom Austria to get new CEO from September

Thomas Arnoldner will replace Alejandro Plater as CEO of the Telekom Austria Group from 01 September, according to an agreement reached by major shareholders America Movil and the Austrian State and Industrial Holding (OBIB). The appointment must still be confirmed by a supervisory board meeting after the AGM.

Former A1 CEO appointed Austrian minister of economy

Margarete Schrambock, former CEO of A1, has been appointed the Austrian Minister of Science, Research and Economy. In her position she will focus on digitisation of the economy and society. Schrambock takes over the office from Harald Mahrer, who was recently elected Chairman of the Austrian Chamber of Commerce, WKO.

Ottendorfer, Krammer rumoured as new A1 CEO

Gunther Ottendorfer announced earlier that he would be leaving his position as COO of US mobile operator Sprint next year in order to spend more time with his family. Speculation is now growing about his possible return to Austria as the new CEO of A1, reported Der Standard. However, that is not likely to be the case, according to sources at the daily. Telekom Austria is still searching for a replacement for Margarete Schrambock, who left the company several weeks ago.

A1 will exclusively offer CAT S31

From 13 November, Austrian operator A1 will exclusively offer the Android smartphone CAT S31, which is protected against the elements and the effects of gravity. The CAT S31 will be available for free with the tariff A1 Go! S, for example.

T-Mobile Austria announces management changes

T-Mobile Austria has appointed Danjin Saletovic as its new VP Retail Sales. Another change announced by T-Mobile was in wholesale: Christian Nemeth has been appointed the manager of the new Department Business Marketing and Wholesale and takes over the responsibility for business marketing, in addition to his hitherto responsibility for wholesale.

America Movil misses chance to nominate woman to Telekom Austria's supervisory board

At an extraordinary general meeting of Telekom Austria, electricity company Verbund's CFO Peter Kollmann was elected to the supervisory board. The financial expert from the state-owned, publicly traded utility was nominated by America Movil and replaces Ronny Pecik following his surprise departure. However, Kollmann's order has been met with incomprehension by the Telekom's works council, who would have liked to see a woman in the role.

Telekom Austria Group to roll out Austrian brand A1 across all its operations

The Telekom Austria Group has announced the decision to phase in its Austrian brand A1 across all of the group's operations with 24 million customers gradually, depending on local circumstances. The aim is to strengthen Telekom Austria Group's position for the expected consolidation of the European telecommunications markets.
