Airtel, AWS to provide cloud services for businesses in India
Indian mobile operator Bharti Airtel has signed a multi-year collaboration agreement with Amazon Web Services (AWS) to deliver cloud services to large enterprise and SMEs in India. Airtel reports it currently serves more than 2,500 large enterprises and 1 million emerging businesses and companies with an integrated product portfolio, including the Airtel Cloud service.

Airtel Cloud will build an AWS Cloud Practice supported by AWS Professional Services, as well as develop Airtel Cloud products and capabilities leveraging AWS services, Airtel’s data center capabilities, and Airtel’s network and telecommunications offerings. Airtel customers will have access to an integrated sales, consulting, and support approach from both companies, and cloud management capabilities.

Airtel Cloud will offer customers a range of AWS services including Windows on AWS, SAP on AWS, VMware Cloud on AWS, database migration, and security and risk governance. In addition, Airtel Cloud will leverage AWS analytics, data warehousing, IoT, and machine learning service to help customers adopt new services and migrate to the cloud from legacy infrastructures.

Airtel also leverages AWS services for development of its digital applications. Airtel is an AWS Direct Connect Delivery Partner. The AWS Direct Connect cloud service supports the establishment of a dedicated network connection from a customer’s premises to AWS.
