Cable operator Altice USA has teamed up with French audio specialist Devialet to unveil a high-end smart speaker complete with Alexa-powered voice control. The new Altice Amplify features two long stroke Diamond woofers, designed by Devialet, a 19v, 7.5 A peak amp and six far-field microphones, which are engineered to pick up sound from across the room, said the company. It also comes with built-in Alexa, including access to more than 90,000 skills, ranging from entertainment to productivity, games and more.
Altice said the speaker will be available for purchase later this year at a cost of USD 499 for non-customers or USD 399 for Altice’s Optimum and Suddenlink customers. Subscribers to the company’s Altice One convergent plans will also be given the option of renting the speaker for USD 10 a month.
