SFR adds own-brand HomeSound smart speakers to product portfolio

Altice subsidiary SFR has teamed up with French audio engineering company Devialet and equipment manufacturer Sagemcom to launch HomeSound, a smart speaker available in two versions both integrating Amazon Alexa, as well as the operator’s own ‘OK SFR’ assistant. Customers can rent the device (EUR 5 and EUR 10 per month depending on the model), or buy it outright starting from EUR 169 for the entry-level model (EUR 349 for the ‘Premium’ version).

The main difference between the entry-level model and the larger Premium version lies in the Devialet systems integrated into the device, offering proprietary audio features such as Speaker Active Matching and Adaptive Volume Level.

Both speakers are compatible with Spotify Connect and can control the smart home automation product range introduced by SFR in November 2019.

Altice USA partnered with Devialet last year to offer a similar high-end device named Amplify. More recently, Sagemcom and Devialet collaborated on the launch of the Vodafone Atika smart speaker in Spain.

SFR Business launches 5G voice and data plans

French operator SFR has introduced three new 5G-compatible mobile plans for B2B customers. This coincides with the announcement of its B2C range, taking advantage of the launch of the first 5G services in Nice on 20 November. Among their main selling points, the B2B packages include the 'Advance Mobile Security' add-on as standard, protecting customers with tools such as traffic encryption, as well as anti-virus and anti-malware.

Vodafone Spain launches Atika smart speaker with Alexa

Vodafone Spain has teamed up with French audio technology brand Devialet and equipment manufacturer Sagemcom to develop its first smart speaker with integrated Amazon Alexa. Orange stops selling Djingo smart speaker in France

The Djingo speaker is no longer on sale on the Orange website, following its commercial debut in France less than a year ago. The online site dedicated to the device states that the operator has stopped marketing the product, in line with what Orange executive Michael Trabbia had anticipated in a press interview earlier this month. Amazon rolls out new spherical Echo smart speaker range

Amazon has unveiled the fourth generation of its Echo and Echo Dot smart speaker lineup, changing the design from the previous flat, puck-like cylinder to a more rounded spherical shape. SFR brings smart home offering to French customers

SFR has started selling a smart home automation range that comes with a dedicated app, featuring products from Legrand, Netatmo and Nest, among others. Grouped under the 'SFR Home' brand, the new offering has its own website and includes three main product bundles.
