Amazon Prime Video viewing doubles during holiday

Amazon announced that it added 3 million new subscribers worldwide to its Prime service in the third week of December alone. In addition to free delivery on all amazon purchases, a Prime annual subscriptions offers subscribers access to the Prime Video and Music on-demand services. Amazon said it has "tens of millions" of Prime subscribers around the world, without releasing exact figures. 

Prime members doubled their total viewing hours of Prime Video titles during the Christmas holiday compared to 2014. The Man in the High Castle was the most watched TV season on Prime Video this holiday by 4.5 times. A record number of videos was watched on Prime Video. 

This was also the biggest holiday for Amazon Device shipments, with sales twice as high as during the record-setting holiday last year, the company said. The Fire tablet was the best-selling Amazon device. The Fire tablet, Amazon Echo and Fire TV Stick were three of the top five items ordered on Christmas Eve through Prime Now. 

The company announced that a record number of songs were streamed with Prime Music this holiday season, with Prime Music plays up by 350 percent compared to the same period last year. In addition, prime members shopping via mobile more than doubled this holiday in the US.
