America Movil to roll out Claro Box TV service across LatAm

America Movil plans to launch its Claro Box TV streaming service in all its Latin American markets following the initial rollout in Brazil, reports Nextv LatAm, citing comments by the group’s CEO Daniel Haikk. The streaming device was officially launched earlier this year in 49 cities across Brazil, giving subscribers access to entertainment services such as Netflix, HBO, Telecine, NOW (Claro's streaming platform), Starzplay and Paramount Plus, sports services such as Conmebol TV.

Described as a true entertainment hub, Claro TV Box comes with more than 90 channels, including live programming from TV Globo, Band and TV Cultura. Last month it added Amazon Prime Video to a catalogue of apps that also includes Claro Video and Claro Music.

Fifa said it has signed an agreement with Claro (America Movil) that will see the telecommunications giant become a regional supporter of 2022 Fifa World Cup in Qatar. The deal spans South America and covers fixed-line and mobile telecommunication services, as well as mobile end-user services in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru and Uruguay.

Claro Colombia using Harmonic software for Claro Box TV

Harmonic confirmed that its VOS-branded cloud-based software is powering the launch of Claro Colombia's new Claro Box TV service. Launched in June, the Android TV-based set-top box enables Claro Colombia's clients to watch the content they want, when they want, with advanced services including video-on-demand, start-over, catch-up TV, cloud DVR and remote control voice assist.

Claro Video adds Paramount+ content to Mexican offer

ViacomCBS Networks Americas announced an agreement to add the content of its streaming service Paramount+ to the catalogue of America Movil's Claro Video platform in Mexico. The service offers more than 5,000 hours of programming including 8,000 TV episodes and over 100 blockbuster movies. In Latin America, Paramount+ is the home of brands such as Showtime, MTV, Nickelodeon and more.

America Movil Q2 revenue down slightly on stronger peso, underlying service revenue grows 5%

America Movil reported another small drop in revenues in the second quarter, as the stronger peso sent sales 0.4 percent lower to MXN 253 billion. Service revenue dropped 4.6 percent, while equipment revenue jumped 34.0 percent as commercial activity picked up. At constant exchange rates, service revenue increased 5.3 percent year-on-year, following a recovery from the pandemic effects a year ago.

'Claro Box TV' device available throughout Colombia

Claro Colombia (America Movil) has officially launched its 'Claro Box TV' device throughout the country following an initial rollout in Bogota. The Android TV set-top box is designed to give customers access to the company's pay-TV service, with 77 channels in HD and 22 in SD via the basic package, rising to 102 (HD) and 46 (SD) via the premium version.

LatAm SVoD subs to more than double to 116 mln by 2026

The Latin American subscription video on demand (SVoD) market is set to surge from 53 million subscriptions at the end of 2020 to 116 million by 2026, according to the latest update from Digital TV Research. The upcoming launch of HBO Max and Star+, following that of Paramount+ and Disney+, is set to consolidate the domination of US-based platforms, with Netflix, Amazon Prime Video, Disney+, Apple TV+ and HBO accounting for 90 percent of the region's SVoD subscriptions by the end of 2026, said the report.

Claro launches OTT TV service across Brazil, updates mobile plans

Following a soft launch period, Claro Brasil has launched the Claro Box TV streaming service in 49 cities across Brazil. It allows access to entertainment services such as Netflix, HBO, Telecine, NOW (Claro's streaming platform), Starzplay, Paramount Plus and more than 90 channels, including live programming from TV Globo, Band and TV Cultura. Existing fixed internet customers will pay BRL 20 for the basic subscription plan, while the package with over 140 TV channels will cost an additional BRL 59.90.
