Apple closes Madrid stores following Covid surge

Apple has announced the temporary closure of its stores in Madrid following a new surge in coronavirus infections in the Spanish capital. “We are closely monitoring the situation and hope that our teams and customers will return as soon as possible,” said the company in a short statement shared with Europa Press. Apple recently closed its store in Zaragoza after a spike in cases in the Aragon region and has now decided to shut its four physical spaces in Madrid (Puerta del Sol, Majadahonda, Arroyomolinos and Leganes) as a precautionary measure.

The company reopened its 11 Spanish stores a couple of months ago with a number of new health protocols to ensure the safety of employees and users alike after they were forced to shut in March due to the county’s Covid-19 lockdown.
