Apple reaches 100% clean energy worldwide
Apple said it is now 100 percent powered by clean energy, all over the world. This includes its retail stores, offices, data centres and co-located facilities in 43 countries, including the US, the UK, China and India.

The company also announced that nine more manufacturing partners have committed to power all of their Apple production with 100 percent clean energy, bringing the total number of supplier commitments to 23. The new commitments come from Arkema, DSM Engineering Plastics, ECCO Leather, Finisar, Luxshare-ICT, Pegatron, Quadrant, Quanta Computer, and Taiyo Ink.

Apple said it is busy with new renewable energy projects around the world, to improve energy options for local communities, states and even entire countries. With utilities, the company is working on a number of projects ranging from solar arrays and wind farms to emerging technologies like biogas fuel cells, micro-hydro generation systems and energy storage technologies.

Apple currently has 25 operational renewable energy projects, totaling 626 megawatts of generation capacity, with 286 megawatts of solar PV generation coming online in 2017, its most in one year. It also has 15 more projects in construction. Once built, over 1.4 gigawatts of clean renewable energy generation will be spread across 11 countries.

All of Apple’s data centres have been powered by renewable energy since 2014.
