Barnes & Noble to offer Nook devices to UK in autumn
US retailer Barnes & Noble announced that this autumn it is expanding its digital business internationally for the first time, offering its Nook e-reader device to the UK. This includes the launch of a new www.nook.co.uk online storefront, featuring more than 2.5 million digital titles including UK books, newspapers and magazines, comics and Nook apps. The company plans to begin offering its products in mid-October and will include the line of E Ink readers, Nook Simple Touch and Nook Simple Touch with GlowLight for sale in the UK. The company said it will soon announce partnerships with leading retailers in the UK for further distribution of the devices.

Barnes & Noble cuts Nook distribution deals in UK

US books retailer Barnes & Noble has inked a number of partnership deals with major retailers in the UK including multi-channel retailer Argos, academic bookseller Blackwell's and independent bookstore Foyles. The retailers will all offer Nook digital products in the UK from October. John Lewis to offer Nook e-readers

Barnes & Noble announced that the John Lewis department store chain will be one of the first retailers in the UK to offer its Nook e-readers and digital bookstore. John Lewis will offer the products in each of its 37 UK stores and on www.johnlewis.com. As previously disclosed, Barnes & Noble will also offer Nook devices and content to UK customers this autumn through its own online storefront, www.nook.co.uk. Barnes & Noble digital sales flat, losses grow

US books retailer Barnes & Noble reported revenues of USD 192 million for its Nook digital operations in the fiscal first quarter ended 28 July. Revenues were little changed compared to a year ago, as digital content sales increased 46 percent and device sales declined due to lower average selling prices and production scaling issues concerning the newly launched GlowLight product.
