Belgian mobile operators offer free mobile internet in Oct
Belgian mobile operators Proximus, Mobistar and Base announced plans to offer subscribers free mobile internet in October. Proximus is giving all customers without a data subscription and who haven't used mobile internet before 1 GB free to use in October. The offer is activated automatically, and they will be notified by SMS.  Mobistar announced a similar offer of 1.25 GB for customers without a data subscription and 1 GB for prepaid customers. Base is giving all its customers free mobile internet the weekend of 3-4 October.

The promotion is part of the operators' support for the 'Surf Mobile' initiative by the Digital Agenda Minister Alexander de Croo and Belgian regulator BIPT to promote mobile data services in Belgium. Base is also starting a promotion of 25 GB for EUR 10, to be used in October. Prepaid customers already subscribed to a data bundle will receive a bonus of 1 GB. The 48-hour promotional offer from Base also applies to the MVNOs Jim Mobile, Contact Mobile, Turk Telekom and Allo RTL, while Proximus' offer extends to customers at its subsidiary Scarlet. In Belgium, three-quarters of 25-30 year-olds are online nearly daily, while this falls to a fifth of 55-60 year-olds.
