Bouygues adds free roaming in Europe, DOMs to Sensation plan

French operator Bouygues Telecom will include calls, SMS and mobile internet when roaming in Europe and French overseas counties (DOM) free in its Sensation mobile plans from 24 February. The Sensation plans start at EUR 29.99 a month for unlimited calls and SMS and 3GB data with no handset or tie-in period, or cost from EUR 36.99 with a smartphone. 

The step by Bougyes to include roaming in the monthly allowance follows rival Free Mobile's offer of inclusive roaming in Italy, Portugal and the DOMs for 35 days a year at no extra charge. Bouygues highlights as a major advantage for its customers the fact that they will no longer need to switch off their phone's mobile data setting when they cross a border and can continue to use their favourite apps without fear of bill shock. 

Orange is reportedly also considering a move to include roaming on other Orange networks abroad as part of its monthly plans.

Bouygues Telecom claims 10% of customers now using LTE

French mobile and broadband operator Bouygues Telecom reported that almost 10 percent of its customers are now using LTE and that it added 482,000 customers in 2013, including 9.91 million on Bouygues Telecom and 1.75 million on the B&You youth brand, up by 726,000 last year. SFR launches premium roaming plan for EU, DOMs

French mobile and broadband operator SFR has launched the Care Europe roaming package for use in the EU and French overseas counties (DOMs). SFR set to include 4G in all plans, but not roaming - report

French operator SFR will introduce 4G on all of its postpaid plans on 11 February, but will not include international roaming, reports Frandroid, citing unnamed sources. Orange France to add data, roaming to Origami plans

Orange France now offers H+/4G service starting with the Origami Zen 500 MB plan, costing EUR 24.99 a month without a phone and EUR 29.99 with one. Furthermore, from 6 February, the operator will add roaming when in Europe and France's overseas departments to its Origami Play and Origami Jet range. Roaming over 4G will be possible in Spain, Portugal and the UK, with other countries to be added over time. The operator is also providing more mobile data on its H+/4G Origami Play and Origami Jet ranges.

Free offers 35 days of roaming in Italy at no extra charge

French operator Free Mobile has added Italy to the growing list of countries where customers can make calls, send SMS and use mobile data as part of the standard EUR 19.99 a month package (EUR 15.99 for Free triple-play customers). Subscribers at least 60 days into their contract can roam in Italy for 35 days a year at no extra cost. Mobile internet is over 3G for the first 3GB and slower thereafter. Orange ready to drop EU roaming charges - report

Orange group CEO Stephane Richard told staff at Orange Spain that the company has changed its policy on European mobile roaming after fighting European Commission-led changes to gradually reduce trans-border roaming prices. Bouygues sets data roaming at a third of Eurotariff
