French operator Bouygues Telecom has refreshed its fixed broadband plans, removing the Bbox Smart TV bundle launched in mid-2020 and adding its main differentiator (Samsung smart TV) as an optional extra for the mid- and top-tier plans, ‘Must’ and ‘Ultym’. As before, customers can choose different models of Samsung TV starting at the discounted price of EUR 49 for a 43-inch screen size.
The two resulting packages (‘Must Smart TV’ and ‘Ultym Smart TV’) come with the B.tv+ smart TV app as a replacement to the standard TV set-top-box. Both are subject to a two-year contract, compared to the twelve-month commitment for the plans without smart TV.
As part of the revamp, Bouygues announced the availability of a new tool called ‘Diagnostic WiFi’, for a technical diagnostic of the Wi-Fi connection. This will be part of all fixed broadband plans and will be accessible from the operator’s client space. Among the other main changes, subscribers signing up to ‘Must’ and ‘Ultym’ will be offered a new cloud recording service for up to five programmes simultaneously, including 100 hours of cloud storage.
In terms of marketing, Bouygues is now promoting the top-tier ‘Ultym’ package with a ‘guaranteed Wi-Fi’ promise, which offers customers the possibility to extend the signal range with up to two Wi-Fi 6 boosters, at no extra cost. This additional equipment complements the premium Wi-Fi 6 router launched last year.
Looking at the monthly subscriptions over a fibre connection, the standard price of the mid-tier ‘Must’ package has increased to EUR 36.99 (up by EUR 3), while ‘Ultym’ has gone up by EUR 1 to EUR 46.99. These prices apply at the end of the promotional twelve-month period.
