BT has announced the launch of the new Advanced Digital Home Phone with Alexa built-in. The cordless handset offers HD calling, call diversion, multi call and call protect features. It will be offered as a free handset upgrade to customers taking BT's Broadband and Digital Voice service from 10 February, with additional handsets available to purchase.
Customers pair the Digital Home Phone with their Smart Hub 2 router. The Digital Voice service is part of BT's plan to operate all landline calls over broadband by 2025. The dedicated Alexa button will allow users to ask their phone to call contacts, adjust the volume, check the weather, read out news headlines and stream music. It can also be used to control other Alexa-enabled smart devices in the home such as security, lighting and heating. Additional handsets will cost GBP 44.99 for a singe pack, GBP 69.99 for a dual pack, GBP 89.99 for a triple pack, and GBP 109.99 for a quad pack.
