Cameroon opens tender for third mobile operator
Cameroon's ministry of posts and telecommunications has launched a call for interested parties to apply for a 3G licence to become the country's third mobile operator, Cameroon Tribune reports. Applicants must be mobile communication operators of international reputation, not already active in Cameroon and with at least USD 200 million of capital as of the end of 2011. Minpostel will draw up a shortlist by 20 July. The country's two operators are currently Orange and MTN.

Cameroon's ministry of posts and telecommunications has chosen Vietnam's Viettel as the winner of the country's third mobile operator's licence. Bharti Airtel, Korea Telecom, Maroc Telecom and Viettel have successfuly submitted their bids to Cameroon post and telecoms ministry for the country's third mobile phone licence, Agence Ecofin reports. Cameroon shortlists seven candidates for 3G licence

Cameroon's post and telecom ministry has published its shortlist of seven candidates for the country's third 3G licence in the pages of Cameroon Tribune. They are Bharti Airtel, Deutsche Telecom, Maroc Telecom, Monaco Telecom/Cable & Wireless Communications, Portugal Telecom, Korea Telecom and Viettel.
