China mobile market slows in Nov on registration campaign

China Mobile led net customer additions on the Chinese mobile market again in November, adding 1.42 million new mobile customers in the month. China Mobile ended November with a total of 847.2 million customers, up by more than 21 million since the start of the year. 

China Unicom attracted 0.41 million new mobile customers for a total 262.99 million at the end of November, and China Telecom added 0.26 million mobile subscribers in the month, for a total 214.2 million. The operators noted that growth slowed somewhat compared to previous months due to the regulatory requirement to register the real names of all customers by the end of November. 

China Mobile still had the largest 4G user base in China in November, with 509.8 million, which represents an increase of 12.5 million in the month. China Unicom added 5.04 million 4G subscribers for a total 99.0 million, and China Telecom gained 4.3 million 4G users to reach 58.8 million at the end of November.

In the fixed broadband market, Unicom lost 70,000 customers in the month, for a total 75.4 million customers at the end of November. China Telecom gained 0.66 million fixed-line customers to reach 122.2 million, and China Mobile added 1.67 million fixed broadband subscribers for a total 77.2 million at 30 November.
