China operators add 22 mln 4G subscribers in March

China Mobile added 2.78 million new mobile customers in March, ending the month with a total of 856.4 million customers. China Telecom attracted 3.01 million new mobile customers for a total 221.53 million at 31 March. China Unicom added 641,000 mobile billing subscribers in the month, for a total 266.2 million at the end of March.

China Mobile still had the largest 4G user base in China in March, with 568 million 4G customers, which represents an increase of nearly 9.47 million in the month. China Telecom added 5.93 million 4G subscribers for a total 137.64 million, and China Unicom gained 6.61 million users to top 122.7 million 4G subscribers at end-March.

In the fixed broadband market, Unicom added 357,000 net customers in the month, for a total 76.58 million customers at the end of March. China Telecom gained 970,000 fixed-line customers to reach 125.82 million, and China Mobile added 2.41 fixed broadband subscribers for a total 85.68 million at end-March.
