China Telecom expands LTE hybrid network trial to 40 cities
China Telecom has obtained approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC to expand its LTE FDD and TD-LTE hybrid network trial to 40 cities. China Telecom rolled out its LTE hybrid network trial in June in 16 cities, including Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Hangzhou, Wuhan, Nanjing, Jinan, Hefei, Shijiazhuang, Haikou, Zhengzhou, Chongqing, Shenzhen, Nanchang, Nanning and Lanzhou. The additional 24 cities are Beijing, Tianjin, Guangzhou, Foshan, Dongguan, Fuzhou, Xiamen, Quanzhou, Changsha, Kunming, Harbin, Changchun, Guiyang, Shenyang, Taiyuan, Hohhot, Yinchuan, Xining, Suzhou, Wuxi, Nantong, Ningbo, Wenzhou, Jinhua.

China Unicom and China Telecom said that they have been granted licenses to operate 4G service (LTE FDD) by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology. MIIT also granted approval for the operators to provide LTE FDD service nationwide in China. The two operators have been testing LTE FDD since last summer. 4G networks to date in China have used the locally developed TD-LTE standard. China Telecom rolled out its LTE hybrid network trial in June. The additional 15 cities are Shaoxing, Taizhou, Changzhou, Xuzhou, Yangzhou, Yancheng, Qingdao, Tangshan, Baoding, Dalian, Zhongshan, Huizhou, Jiangmen, Wuhu and Yulin.

China Telecom ended July with a total of 180.04 million mobile telephony subscribers, down from 180.24 million in the previous month. China Telecom to invest CNY 13.2 bln in 4G in 2014

China Telecom plans to invest CNY13.2 billion in 4G infrastructure in 2014, Digitimes reports. The operator China Telecom has recently launched a TD-LTE/LTE FDD dual-mode 4G trial operation in 16 cities in China. China Telecom became one of the three TD-LTE licensees in December 2013 and additionally obtained a license for LTE FDD trial operation in June 2014. According to the report, China Telecom aims to invest over CNY100 billion to deploy TD-LTE/LTE FDD networks over the next three years.

China Telecom has announced it has started a LTE hybrid network trial. The operator has recently obtained approval from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of the PRC to start the LTE FDD and TD-LTE hybrid network trial in 16 cities on the mainland with the hybrid network development mode to be systematically examined.
