Cisco puts video software operations up for sale - report
Cisco has puts its NDS video software operations on sale, as it focuses on its network infrastructure business, Bloomberg reported. Cisco bought the NDS Group in 2012 for about USD 5 billion. It is now actively looking to sell it, the sources said, asking not to be identified because the process is private. A Cisco representative declined to comment.

The company had announced in June already that it was closing its CVTF video software subsidiary in France, saying it was looking to scale back its video activities globally. Letting go of NDS would speed its exit from technology used in traditional TV services following the company's sale of its connected-device business, the former Scientific-Atlanta, in 2015.

NDS’s products are used to send interactive content to television set-top boxes, digital-video recorders and mobile phones. The business is part of Cisco’s service-provider video unit, which has reported declining revenues since 2014.
