Cyfrowy Polsat starts LTE consumer tests
Polish operator Cyfrowy Polsat is starting consumer tests of its LTE broadband service. The company is offering 1,500 customers a three-month trial free. They will have 100GB a month to use, including 50GB during peak hours and 50GB from midnight to 08:00hrs, to use on the Speed 1000 modem designed for the operator by IP Wireless. Cyfrowy Polsat uses the Centernet/Mobyland LTE network in the 1800MHz band for the service, and Sim cards designed by Oberthur. The consumer tests will use the 10MHz channel, which offers download speeds up to 73Mbps an dupload up to 25Mbps. Cyfrowy Polsat said it's working on using 20MHz to offer higher speeds of respectively 100Mbps and 50Mbps. This will be supported by the Huawei E398 USB modem, which supports the 1800MHz band for LTE as well as 900 and 2100MHz for HSPA. The LTE network was first launched last September and counts around 500 base stations.

Cyfrowy Polsat prolongs LTE testing

Polish operator Cyfrowy Polsat increased the broadband speed to up to 100Mbps for subscribers testing its LTE service in the 1,800 MHz band. The higher speed is possible thanks to a doubling in the bandwidth to 20 HMz. The operator has also prolonged LTE testing until 31 August. Around 500 LTE base stations are currently operational across the country. Testing first started in March.

Cyfrowy Polsat starts VoD promotion

Polish satellite television broadcaster Cyfrowy Polsat launched a promotion whereby movies from its VoD library section 'Nowosci' are offered at a lower price, namely PLN 9.90. The promotion, called 'Nowosci taniej,' has been launched on 18 March and will last until the end of March. Among the movies offered at lower tariffs are 'Salt,' 'The Twilight Saga: Eclipse' and 'Heartbreaker. License to seduction.'

Cyfrowy Polsat shows LTE modem

Polish operator Cyfrowy Polsat plans to offer up tp 100Mbps mobile broadband soon. The operator started testing LTE with the Speed 1000 modem produced by IP Wireless specially for Cyfrowy Polsat. Cyfrowy Polsat confirms LTE launch for Q1

Polish pay-TV group Cyfrowy Polsat plans to launch commercial LTE services by the end of Q1, according to chairman Dominik Libicki. He said over 10,000 customers have applied to take part in the inital tests of the services, which are expected to start in February. Polkomtel considers LTE cooperation with Polsat

Polish mobile operator Polkomtel is looking at several ways to launch LTE services, including working with the Polsat group which holds frequencies in the 1,800 MHz band, Jaroslaw Bauc, the CEO of Polkomtel, told Rzeczpospolita. Polish pay-TV operator Cyfrowy Polsat has signed an agreement with the operator Mobyland on wholesale mobile data services.
