Deutsche Telekom CEO to step down at end-2013
Deutsche Telekom announced that CEO Rene Obermann will step down at the end of 2013, after seven years heading the German group. He will be replaced by CFO Tim Hoettges at the start of 2014. Hoettges has been with Deutsche Telekom since 2000, serving as CFO and CEO of T-Mobile Germany, chief sales officer at the European mobile operations and head of the company's fixed-line business in Germany. He has been group CFO since March 2009. DT chairman Ulrich Lehner said the supervisory board would like to see Obermann stay on, but respect his decision to step down in order to focus more on entrepreneurial activities.

Deutsche Telekom looks to bring forward CEO change - report

The change in leadership at Deutsche Telekom will take place earlier than previously planned, according to information obtained by Manager magazin. CEO Rene Obermann will now hand over to his successor, CFO Timotheus Hoettges, in the autumn. It had originally planned to make the change at end-2013/start-2014. The Supervisory Board of Deutsche Telekom has appointed Thomas Dannenfeldt as the new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). He will succeed Timoethus Hoettges from 01 January 2014, when Hoettges takes over from Rene Obermann as Chairman of the Management Board. The Supervisory Board also extended the contract of Niek Jan van Damme, head of the company's German operations, ahead of time.

Why did Ziggo's board ask Obermann to become CEO?

The Netherlands' largest cable operator Ziggo announced that Rene Obermann, until the end of this year CEO of Deutsche Telekom, will take over from Bernard Dijkhijzen next year as CEO of Ziggo. Deutsche Telekom meets FY targets, Q4 revenue down 1.4%

Deutsche Telekom reported 2012 results down in line with its outlook and reiterated its forecasts for increased investment in the coming years. Revenues fell 0.8 percent last year to EUR 58.17 billion, and adjusted EBITDA declined 3.8 percent to EUR 17.98 billion, versus a target of EUR 18 billion. Departing Deutsche Telekom CEO, Rene Obermann, plans to continue to do his job dynamic and engaged until 31 December 2013, according to German magazine Focus citing an interview with Obermann. On 20 December, Obermann unveiled that he will leave the company at the end of 2013 and will be replaced by Timotheus Hoettges. Deutsche Telekom strategy to 2015: focus on LTE and FTTC

Deutsche Telekom has outlined a new strategy for the period to 2015, at its capital markets day on 6-7 December. Investments in LTE and FTTC will increase, dividends will be cut, and by 2014, a return to sales growth should be evident. The German operator is targeting growth in B2B/ICT, mobile data and TV; these services should grow to around 40-50 percent of revenues, from around a quarter in 2010. Deutsche Telekom has announced a reduction in its dividend in the coming years, as it steps up investment in new broadband networks. At its capital markets day, the German operator said it will pay a dividend of EUR 0.50 per share for 2013 and 2014, down from EUR 0.70 last year. Free cash flow is expected to fall to EUR 5 billion next year, from an estimated EUR 6 billion in 2012. It should recover to EUR 6 billion in 2015. Deutsche Telekom has recorded a net loss of EUR 6.90 billion for the third quarter due to an impairment charge on T-Mobile USA ahead of its proposed merger with MetroPCS.
