Deutsche Telekom changes head of T-Systems

Deutsche Telekom announced a change in management at its unit T-Systems. Board member in charge of T-Systems, Reinhard Clemens is leaving the company, and a new head of the unit will take over from the start of 2018. The identity of the new board member cannot be announced yet due to agreements with his or her current employer.

Deutsche Telekom thanked Clemens for his nearly ten years on the board, saying it was "to his credit" that he had agreed to stay on and work on with the new T-Systems chief during a transition period. "In a difficult competitive environment, he provided the company with important momentum," said Telekom chairman Ulrich Lehner of Clemens. "His successor possesses the necessary experience and know-how to continue to drive consistently T-Systems’ transformation."

T-Systems is a global provider of IT and enterprise services. The unit has been undergoing restructuring for several years in an attempt to improve profitability and boost its growth prospects. Last year Telekom was rumoured to be considering a sale of all or parts of the unit, as well as further job cuts to reduce costs.
